Library Lines

We have a bountiful harvest of programming for all ages coming your way this drippy, cool autumn. But, first, congratulations to our Scarecrow Contest Winners: 1st - Mary Lourdes Erlichman, 2nd - Cornelius Family and 3rd - Colton Fox. Thanks to all for your brainy entries, who are now "hanging out" on guard in the Library lobby. Also, congratulations to Cara Goedeker, winner of our Friends of the Library Raffle Basket, and to Colleen Head who took home a WPL book bag and mug for winning our Library Card Signup Month contest.

Back for a third year by popular demand, hear Stacey Jones the Ghost Hunter who will appear on Tuesday, October 13th @ 6:30pm. Founder of Central NY Ghosthunters, Stacy will talk about ghost hunting, including photos and sound recordings from ghost hunting trips, with Q&A. Come early to get good seats!

From the parascientific to we'll shift gears skyward on Friday, October 16th for an exciting Star Party event beginning at 7pm. Faith Thompson from the Herkimer Community College observatory and Mohawk Valley Astromomical Society will introduce the Observatory and Society and our main speaker, astronomer/NASA astronaut Dr. John Grunsfeld-- who will appear by simultaneous Webcast on our big screen as he presents the keynote address at the Enchanted Skies Star Party that evening in Socorro, New Mexico . Grunsfeld returned last May from the very successful final service mission, his third, to the Hubble Space Telescope. Again, come early-- this will be a great program!
