Next Adult Summer Reading Drawing Tomorrow

Kids and adults,
if you're reading you might as well get some prizes!


Next Adult Prize Bag drawing is tomorrow, July 31st.
Be sure to turn in your review slip for 1 of 3 books you've read,
and to enter your name in the drawing.

Kids, be sure to bring in your sheets.
Remember every 8 hours = a prize
16 hours = a T-shirt

and you can still get prizes for every 8 hours after that.
Plus, keep racking in hours to get that end of summer party!

Robin Bady * A Great Success!



25 kids came to the library this morning to see Storyteller Robin Bady. They sang old songs and new songs, danced with Robin and had a lot of fun. Afterward the kids got to line up and strum a little tune on Robin's guitar Cassie. Thank You to Robin and everyone who came out!

Congratulations to Mary Blunt, the first winner of the series of Adult Summer Reading prize drawings. There are 3 loaded book bags left to be won this summer, and here's how: read 3 books (audiobooks included), fill out a short review sheet for 1, submit it and enter your name into the drawing, and keep going until Aug. 21st. Review sheets are at the library and on the website at www.midyork.org/waterville.

Don't forget the "Old Folks Story Swap" when people of all ages can hear stories of stealing cannons, horses in local bars, and more. The next meeings are Friday, July 24th and Aug. 14th @ 4:30 pm. Refreshments are on us, you bring the stories. Also, stop in Tuesdays, at 3 or 6 pm for our Classic Film Series. The next film is "Some Like it Hot" with Marilyn Monroe.

Check out the sound of the Monk Rowe Duo with John Hutson Friday, July 31st at 7 pm for FREE. Bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy "6 Decades of Top 10 Hits" in the beautiful library gardens. In the case of rain, the performance will be in the library program room, and a free ticket will be required. Space is limited, so pick up your tickets today at the library, or call 841-4651 to reserve them.

Early Literacy Program



The Bookworms Early Literacy Program is a free program designed for 2 1/2 - 4 year old children to introduce them to letters, shapes and colors to help them prepare to read. We will do crafts, read books and interact with other children.

Bookworms will be held on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Starts September 14th, 2009. Sign up soon!

Last year The Bookworms read over 1150 books from September - May.

Artsy Smartsy



Every Wednesday in July kids come to the library and try different painting styles. This week they did learned about Pop Art and made some great Pop Art pictures to bring home.
In the coming weeks we'll be doing Pointillism, Cubism & Watercolor.

Beginning August 3rd the Artsy Smartsy Class will have an Art Show with their favorite pieces. So be sure to stop in and support our budding artists.

Utica Zoo Mobile A Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out to see the Zoo Mobile. About 70 people came out to see a scorpion, opossum, a snake and an alligator. Here are some pictures from last night.
